The Modular Terrain project is a proposal for a children's park in St. Louis, Missouri. The changing scale of the body, which comes from changing position and movement through sitting, standing, crawling, etc, relates to the changing scale of the units within each part of the structure throughout the park. The modules incorporate stairs, slides and benches and emerge both above and below the ground in order to spatially encourage ideas of play and interaction from children and adults. Carefully placed clusters of bamboo for landscaping along with oval and circular perforations in the structures which allow for the passage of light and air, add to the variety of spatial conditions throughout the park. The experience of such conditions begin when the visitor enters the park by passing under ribbed canopies and stepping onto a changing and undulating modular terrain.
